Jim Miller Honored with IADA Friends of Athletics Award

STILLMAN VALLEY, Ill. — Stillman Valley High School is proud to announce that Mr. Jim Miller has been selected to receive the Illinois Athletic Directors Association’s Friends of Athletics Award. This statewide honor recognizes individuals whose extraordinary service and dedication have made a lasting impact on high school athletics.

Since joining the Cardinal community in 1989, Miller has devoted countless hours to supporting Stillman Valley student-athletes, coaches, and athletic programs. His service has included providing water for football players during practices and games, keeping the scorebook for home and away basketball contests, working the finish line at track meets, and serving for many years as president of the Meridian Athletic Booster Club.

“Jim represents everything this award is meant to honor,” said SVHS Athletic and Activities Director Heather Alderks. “For more than 35 years, he has faithfully served our student-athletes and programs in countless ways. His dependability, generosity, and willingness to help wherever needed have made a lasting difference. We are incredibly grateful to have Jim as part of the Cardinal community.”

The Friends of Athletics Award celebrates those who work behind the scenes to strengthen interscholastic athletic programs and create meaningful opportunities for students. Miller’s decades of service embody that commitment and have left a lasting legacy within Meridian CUSD #223.
