Dear Meridian Community,
I want to provide an important update on the ongoing search for the next superintendent of Meridian CUSD 223. Selecting a superintendent is one of the most significant responsibilities a Board of Education undertakes, and we are committed to making a choice that will best serve our students, staff, and community.
To assist in this crucial process, the Board has engaged the Illinois Association of School Boards (IASB). Their expertise is invaluable as we navigate this decision, ensuring that we approach the selection with thoroughness and care. As part of our efforts to involve the community, an online survey was conducted to gather input from staff, parents, and other key stakeholders. The response to this survey was robust, providing the Board with a wide range of perspectives.
This input is instrumental in several ways:
1. Developing Search Criteria: The survey responses help us define what the district needs in its next leader. We’ve identified key challenges and the leadership skills necessary to address them, shaping our search criteria to reflect the priorities of our community.
2. Interview Preparation: The insights gathered also guide us as we prepare for interviews with finalists. They help us focus on the critical issues that matter most to our stakeholders and ensure that our conversations with candidates are both relevant and thorough.
3. Orientation for the New Superintendent: Finally, the feedback serves as a valuable resource for the incoming superintendent. It offers a clear picture of the expectations and concerns of our community, helping the new leader to hit the ground running.
The application deadline for superintendent candidates is September 27. Information about the posting, including application details, is available on the IASB website.
The Board will move into the interview phase, with meetings scheduled throughout October. This is an exciting and pivotal time for our district, and we are committed to finding the right leader to continue moving Meridian CUSD 223 forward.
If you have any questions about the process or would like more details, please feel free to reach out to John Smith, Board of Education President, at jsmith@mail.meridian223.org.
Thank you for your ongoing support and engagement in this process.
Best regards,
Dr. PJ Caposey
Superintendent
Meridian CUSD 223
