Environmental Club Enters Recycling Competition
Posted on 02/04/2022

The Environmental Club at Stillman Valley High School has entered a competition sponsored by the Trex company to collect as much recyclable plastic film as possible from November 15 to April 15 to earn a recycled bench to place in the courtyard at SVHS.

The school will be in a nationwide competition with other schools of the same enrollment size. Materials that can be recycled for this event include plastic grocery bags, bread bags, bubble wrap, newspaper sleeves, ice bags, softener salt bags, produce bags, Ziploc bags, cereal bags, case overwrap or any stretch film. All materials should be clean and dry.

There are bins located at the high school for collection in the front foyer, Multi-Purpose room and teacher workroom. Please only bring in the specific recyclable items. Every month the Environmental Club will gather and weigh the plastic collected and report the total to Trex.

The plastic will then be taken to a participating retailer for recycling. The Environmental Club would appreciate all support offered towards this project and keeping materials out of our landfills.
